Biometric ID Cards Introduced for Settlement Applications

The UK Border Agency has announced that from 29 February 2012, all UK immigration applications will require biometric capture; including those applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain

This means that successful applicants will receive a separate biometric ID card (residence permit) which contains details of their immigration status. This will need to be presented together with the passport as evidence of right to stay in the UK.

It will still be possible for legal representatives to provide a premium service for urgent applications. However this will be on a first come, first served basis and subject to availability.

If you are planning on making an application to extend your UK visa or leave to remain and are considering a premium application, call our offices on 01793 836010 to discuss how we can help.

Introduction of Fees for Asylum and Immigration Appeals

From 19 December 2011, those who want to appeal against an immigration decision will be required to pay a fee to the First-Tier Immigration Tribunal.

Note: This will not apply to those with immigration decision notices dated before 19 December 2011.

In addition, from the above date, people will NOT be able to lodge appeals directly to the oversees visa application centres and will only be able to make appeals to the tribunal located in the UK.

This introduction of fees highlights the importance of seeking professional advice at an early stage of the appeal process. If you’re looking for someone to manage your appeal please contact us on 01793 836010.
